Online Courses Coming Soon     The Study Skills Institute is finalizing the development of our online courses that will help students improve their study habits. Already in use with our popular and successful summer courses, this new product will soon provide a turn-key solution for students, schools, teachers and parents.   We are curently finalizing  the beta-testing of the online courses, with releases scheduled for January, 2008.  Read below to see the features we will offer for students, teachers and parents.   Courses & Curriculum "Give a man a fish and he eats for a day. Similar to the adage above, we at Study Skills Institute, llc believe that if you teach a student how to learn, then they can learn for a liftetime.  Since 1972, our "Learn-to-Learn" courses have helped students understand how to learn more efficiently. We have worked with thousands of students who struggle simply because they do not have some of the basic facts and skills that make up a strong study habit. Too often these problems are rooted in misconceptions or lack of awareness about certain aspects of the study habit. We are here to provide resources and solutions to these problems. Students The "Learn-to-Learn" online course for students will include compelling, interactive multi-media lessons.  Students can take advantage of a variety of online resources to help them develop and master essential study skills.  Students can complete a diagnostic survey, take lessons, complete practice exercises and use downloadable resources for enjoyable interactive learning. The scheduling and time allowed for electives also varies, not only from school to school, but often from semester to semester within a single school. Our training helps teachers set up an effective curriculum that considers the needs of the students, whether it will taught once weekly or more frequently, computer lab access (if any) and other concerns. By the time the teacher has completed the training, they'll have all they need to run the course including clear customized lesson plans with all instructional materials. Furthermore, the online institute has support features to guide instructors as they teach the course. Active Parent: A parent can enroll as a teacher, take the instructor's course, focusing on the parts your student will need. A parent can learn how to help students by encouraging the proper habits. Your student can use your enrollment. Home School Parent: This effectively means you are the teacher. Take the official instructor's course (and receive certification). The instructor's course includes training in how to set up the course for each unique environment, which includes unique home environments and small home school groups. PTA Parents: Parents who know a group of students can set up a course in your area. Study Skills Institute can provide the material, registration, process payments and provide online teacher training.
